????張晨為過(guò)著雙重生活。作為花旗集團(tuán)（Citigroup）的常務(wù)董事，白天，她是花旗創(chuàng)投（Citi Ventures）亞洲區(qū)的負(fù)責(zé)人，在上海處理亞洲初創(chuàng)企業(yè)的投資事務(wù)。而在晚上，她必須將工作重心轉(zhuǎn)移到大洋彼岸，與身在美國(guó)的同事們通宵達(dá)旦地研究這些初創(chuàng)公司。八年來(lái)，她要經(jīng)常飛行15個(gè)小時(shí)奔波于上海與紐約之間，而且還要應(yīng)付13個(gè)小時(shí)的時(shí)差；此外，她還得經(jīng)常去印度、中國(guó)香港、新加坡和帕洛阿爾托等地出差。她是如何做到的呢？出生并成長(zhǎng)于美國(guó)弗吉尼亞州韋恩斯伯勒市的張晨為女士與《財(cái)富》的讀者們?cè)诖朔窒硭慕?jīng)驗(yàn)。

忘記時(shí)間

????我的工作經(jīng)常需要我連軸轉(zhuǎn)，因此時(shí)差反應(yīng)對(duì)我并沒(méi)有影響。不論我身處何地，都會(huì)在晚上7點(diǎn)鐘下班。然后休息幾個(gè)小時(shí)，再重新投入工作。我經(jīng)常在晚上11點(diǎn)、凌晨1點(diǎn)，甚至凌晨5點(diǎn)接到電話，這已經(jīng)是司空見(jiàn)慣的事了。我只需要睡上三個(gè)小時(shí)就能保持精力充沛。

愛(ài)上酒店

????我在舊金山有一棟公寓，但我經(jīng)常住在帕洛阿爾托市的酒店里。因?yàn)槲颐刻焱ǔＲ谵k公室工作12個(gè)小時(shí)；不論我到哪里出差，幾乎很少回家。對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)，酒店更舒適，而且一切都有人替我打理。

先吃后問(wèn)

????就餐時(shí)，在開(kāi)吃之前，別對(duì)食物問(wèn)東問(wèn)西。你十有八九會(huì)喜歡那些食物，不過(guò)西方人一般很少會(huì)吃蛇、駱駝或者金炸蟬。飲食是亞洲商業(yè)文化中很重要的一部分。如果什么都不吃，人家會(huì)覺(jué)得你無(wú)禮。

工作生活不分家

????亞洲人工作和個(gè)人生活的界限模糊得多。在美國(guó)，下班之后的時(shí)間屬于個(gè)人自由支配的時(shí)間。但在亞洲，你全天24小時(shí)都有可能會(huì)接到工作電話。所以，我也入鄉(xiāng)隨俗，讓自己保持通信暢通。這就是亞洲人工作的方式。

享受飛行時(shí)光

????只有在飛行途中，我才會(huì)暫時(shí)中斷所有通信?？梢哉f(shuō)，飛機(jī)就是我的庇護(hù)所。我正在考慮買一個(gè)如師通（Rosetta Stone）軟件，好利用飛行時(shí)間學(xué)習(xí)西班牙語(yǔ)。我有一個(gè)夢(mèng)想，希望未來(lái)能夠定居西班牙北部城市圣塞巴斯蒂安或者阿根廷的布宜諾斯艾里斯。

Survival skills

????Wei Hopeman leads a dual life. By day, the Citigroup managing director, who's based in Shanghai, invests in startups throughout Asia as the head of Citi Ventures for the region. By night, she turns her focus to the other side of the world, working a full shift with her American colleagues connecting those startups with Citi business units. After eight years of dealing with the 13-hour time difference and the 15-hour flight between Shanghai and New York -- not to mention trips across China and to India, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Palo Alto -- Hopeman has learned a few tricks. Here, the native of tiny Waynesboro, Va., shares them with the rest of us.

Ignore the clock

????Jet lag doesn't affect me since I work two shifts back-to-back. Wherever I am, my day usually ends at 7 p.m. I relax for a few hours, then begin again. It's not uncommon for me to have calls at 11 p.m., 1 a.m., and 5 a.m. I'm pretty good at sleeping in three-hour chunks.

No place like a hotel

????I have an apartment in San Francisco, but I usually stay in hotels in Palo Alto because I'm generally in the office 12 hours a day; no matter where I am, I'm almost never home, and hotels are just easier because there is somebody to pick up after me.

Eat first, ask later

????Don't ask what you're eating until you've tasted it. Nine times out of 10 you'll like it, but the average Westerner might never try snake, camel, or fried cicadas. Food is a big part of the business culture here. If you don't eat anything, it can be perceived as rude.

Blend work and life

????In Asia the boundary between professional and personal space is much more blurred. In the U.S., you work and then you go home and it's your time. Here, people will call your cellphone 24/7. I make myself available. It's how business gets done.

Savor plane time

????The only time I'm not wired is while flying. Being on a plane is my sanctuary. I'm thinking about getting Rosetta Stone software for my flights. I have a secret dream of learning Spanish -- because at some point I want to live in San Sebastián or Buenos Aires.
